Perfect Audience Review

Somewhat of a new trend, retargeting has taken the advertising world by storm.  It’s one of the best ways to bring visitors back to your website and convert those visitors to sales.  There are only a handful of companies truly offering this niche service and today we’ll take a look at Perfect Audience since we’ve actually tested their platform with interesting results.

How does Perfect Audience work?

Perfect Audience is a platform where you can show your ads to visitors who left your website.  They do this by adding a snippet of javascript on your website so they can track your visitors and then show them your ads while they browse other websites on the Internet.  The idea is to get visitors who left your website to come back by clicking on your ads.  This type of advertising is called ‘retargeting’ as you’re literally showing ads to target people who previously visited your website.

With Perfect Audience you can retarget your ads on Facebook, Twitter or simply on the web meaning other websites on the Internet that they serve ads on.  The whole idea behind retargeting is that you have a much better chance of someone coming back to your website if they continuously see ads for your brand wherever they go.  You design the ads you want to show and create your campaigns in the Perfect Audience dashboard.  You’ll be able to track your clicks and how many people saw your ads in total.  You can even setup goals for conversions so you’ll know if someone clicked your ad, came back to your website and made a purchase.

Below is a screenshot of the dashboard so you get an idea of what data you can see right off the bat.

Perfect Audience Facebook Retargeting

Facebook retargeting has become one of the most popular retargeting properties and that’s where Perfect Audience really shines.  You can have your ads show up in the sidebar (right side of Facebook) or in the News Feed.  We decided to retarget in both sections with some interesting results.  Our sidebar ads seemed to get many more views and clicks mainly because Facebook shows these ads at a much faster pace than the New Feed ads.  Our News Feed ads did get click but we found that the News Feed ads actually got us a lot more Facebook likes.  People saw the News Feed ad and clicked the like button which drove up our Facebook likes almost 8 times more than we would get normally without any retargeting.  This test period was for 60 days so we have a solid 8 weeks of advertising on Facebook to generate these results.

When creating a Facebook campaign you can also choose which platform you want your ads to show up on.  For example, you could make it so your ads only show up on mobile devices or only desktops.  It really depends on your business and what audience you’re targeting.

Retargeting Lists and How They Work

retargeting lists

Create targeted lists for specific visitor groups

One of the best features of Perfect Audience is the ability to create Retargeting Lists.   These lists allow you to show ads to people who went to specific pages on your website.  Segmenting your visitors in to lists gives you even more control over the ads that appear for visitors based on the specific pages they viewed on your website.  As an example lets say you’re selling cat food and dog food.  A visitor comes to your website to buy cat food and then decides to leave your website without making a purchase.  Now based on this you would obviously only want to show this visitor ads on cat food products and not your other dog food products and that is exactly where retargeting lists comes in to play.  You can create a list so anyone who visited the cat food section goes in to a ‘list’ and then you would create a campaign with cat food ads to target theses specific visitors.  So not only are you targeting a past visitor but you’re targeting them with a specific ad based on their browsing habits.

Excluding Visitors from Retargeting Ads

There will be a time where you simply don’t want to show ads to a group of visitors.  Let’s say someone visited your website and ended up purchasing your product.  In this case you may not want to show ads to them.  By excluding visitors from seeing ads you now have control over what visitors see and you’ll actually save money by only displaying ads to people who didn’t buy your product.  Perfect Audience makes this task simple.  Just like creating retargeting lists you can also create a list for ‘completed sales’ and exclude them from seeing ads.  Simple enough right?

Retagreting on Twitter with Perfect Audience

Using the same concept as Facebook retargeting you can also advertise on Facebook through Perfect Audiences platform.  You just create your ads and set the criteria on who you want to target and voila, your ads are now on your visitors Twitter feed.  Keep in mind though, for Twitter retargeting you have to have a larger retargeting list of 40,000 to use this service.  This is to ensure enough people see your ads in their feed.  We haven’t actually tested Twitter retargeting but once we do we’ll update this post with all the details.  Twitter RetargetingWith Twitter retargeting you’re basically showing up with a ‘Promoted Tweet’ which is Twitters way of showing your tweet/ad in someones timeline.  Your tweet will clearly be labeled as a Promoted tweet and you’ll be able to add 140 characters as well as an image if you want.  In essence they are the same as a standard tweet meaning they can be favorited, replied to and retweeted.  You can offer discounts and coupons on your product or maybe even a content or giveaway to get visitors to engage.  You’re not paying for the click-throughs but per CPM.  If your business could benefit from Twitters social platform it’s definitely worth a shot especially with the simplicity in which Perfect Audience allows you to setup your campaign.

Perfect Audience Review conclusion

Whether you’re new to retargeting or have tried it before, you should definitely give Perfect Audience a try.  Their dashboard is seriously one of the easiest to use and the details and analytical data alone is worth it.  From talking to other businesses we’ve found that retargeting is truly working and bringing lost visitors back.  I recommend refreshing your ads at least once a month to make sure your target visitors don’t see the same ad over and over which would get annoying.  Keep things fresh in your ad by offering a discount or incentive of some sort for them to click your ad.  With Perfect Audience you can start with a budget as low as $25.  Their support is also amazing!  Emails were responded to within minutes, literally.  Their knowledgebase has how-to tutorials and tons of videos to get you rolling.

So now that you have an idea on how retargeting works we’ve got a Perfect Audience coupon for our readers.  The coupon gives you $120 worth of free advertising with Perfect Audience!  Be sure to leave your comments on your experience with Perfect Audience and retargeting ads.

  1. I’ve only had mixed results with Perfect Audience. Be careful with their “Free Trial” – they may end up charging you anyway.

    • Hi Jim,

Thanks for commenting. I’ve found that with any retargeting the key is to refresh your ads every month or two. Once someones sees your ad often enough they will likely stray from it so try changing up your ads with different call-to-actions and banners. Like any ad campaign always be testing. Good luck!
