In case you’re not familiar with our review site, our number one objective is to help you, our users, find the best web hosting provider available. Through in depth reviews that cut right to the meat and potatoes of offers, we do our best to help you make the most informed and educated decision possible. In our latest post, we’re shining the spotlight on an incredibly useful forum called DNC.ca. Domain Names Canada is a community that specializes in information sharing regarding buying domains, website development, and a ton of other useful topics.
We recently sat down with Samer Jouaneh, the founder of DNC.ca, a community packed with resources for domain name owners, buyers, and website developers. Not only are we excited to connect our users with this great Canadian portal, but we’re also overjoyed to bring you our first interview (hopefully with many more to come!).
Hi Samer, thanks for taking the time to sit down with us today. Let’s start with an introduction, shall we? What can you tell us about yourself and your website, DNC.ca?
Thanks for having me today! First off, I have been in the domain industry for well over 10 years now. I started with purchasing domains for personal use and then began to buy domains for development purposes. DNC.ca is one of my most exciting projects, it is a forum dedicated to those interested in domain names and web development in Canada.
It’s our pleasure Samer. So you’re an industry veteran I guess we can say, good to know! Can you tell us approximately when you launched the community, and what kind of growth you’ve experienced?
We launched the community in February of 2011. We just passed our three year mark and we are very excited about it. We currently get thousands of visitors on a daily basis who are interested in owning domains or beginning to develop their websites. The year we launched was the most difficult year for us, building a website from scratch and establishing our website as one of the leaders in this sector was challenging but also rewarding. We are now the top Canadian Domain Forum in the industry.
Sounds about right – the first year is usually the most difficult, though I’m glad to hear things are shaping up nicely. Can you tell us what type of users (developers, domain name buyers, etc) your community mainly attracts?
DNC.ca welcomes all visitors to join with any level of experience in the industry. We’ve had people from the beginner stages who have wanted to learn about the domain industry and how to develop their domains, as well as many experienced domainers who are looking to establish ways to earn income through their domains/websites. This mix of knowledge and expertise makes DNC.ca a popular place for those to discuss and interact with each other.
Interesting stuff! So what kinds of topics can users expect to see within your forum?
We have many different topics ranging from how to register a domain to how to select the best web hosting company. The beginners section of the forum is a great place to start if one is interested in learning the basics on how to get started in this industry.
Which works out very well, since our users are very interested in selecting the best web hosting company! Speaking of which, what would you say is the main benefit for someone who is looking for a great web hosting provider?
The main benefit to those looking for a great web hosting provider is the fact that they can do a lot of research through DNC.ca to pick the right web host. As the owner of DNC.ca we always get a lot of feedback from our users regarding web hosts – that’s the great thing about DNC.ca – it allows people to discuss openly about different web hosts and which ones offer great customer support and easy to use interfaces, etc.
Good to know Samer, I’m sure a lot of our users could benefit from your community. Since you’re clearly familiar with the domain name space in Canada, can you share your thoughts on how the landscape is changing in Canada?
Sure. I have personally found recently that more and more people are understanding the full potential of owning their own domain and website not only for business purposes but also personally. We are finding a huge increase in visitors over the years wanting to participate online. This has created a large increase in Canada for domains being purchased and websites being developed.
Well said Samer, I couldn’t agree with you more! Is there anything else you think our users might need to know about your community?
The only thing I would add is that if anyone is looking to learn about domains and become more familiar with websites and how the industry continues to expand, I encourage them to visit DNC.ca.
Great, thanks again for sitting down with us Samer. We’ll do whatever we can to help raise awareness of your awesome portal!
Thanks Chris!
