Guide To Email Marketing Part 2
In this first part of this email marketing guide, we discussed several ways to get started with sending email newsletters. Also, we highlighted 3 tips that you should use to get moving forward. Now, in this section, you will learn about some elements that are going to help you on your quest. Email marketing is easy to get started with, but it’s not going to be enough. You have to cultivate your audience’s attention to respond with valuable information. As such, consider the following quick tips to help you with email.
Get An Email Service To Start
The first thing that you need to do is simple, look for an email service. There are several email services on the market today. These will help you build a user list, ensure that you are not getting thrown into spam folders, and help you cultivate an audience from 0 to 10,000. One of the premier services to utilize today, is mailchimp.com. They help you send emails to people, with clean layouts, and a high conversion ratio.
As mentioned in our Email Marketing Part 1 you can check out MailChimp which offers free and paid mass emailing services.
Don’t Send Marketing Emails Alone
One of the most important things that you need to do when sending out emails, is to make sure that it’s not just “marketing” that you’re sending out. It’s too easy to market to people and forget about giving them value. If you treat your audience as more than just marketing pieces, then you will end up getting a much better response over time. You need to give people information, tips, and more to help educate them on several different topics.
Allow Easy Unsubscribe
In treating your audience as more than just marketing collateral, you will need to put this issue to good use. You need to let people unsubscribe, simple as that. Do not make this hard. Do not try to hid this. Always let people unsubscribe, plain and simple. Always allow people to have a semblance of control over the information that you’re sending. By letting them opt out of emails, they can end up with a better overall experience.
Do Not Spam (sending too many messages)
Here is the biggest piece of advice you can use when focusing on email marketing. You need to never spam. You absolutely need to limit the emails that you send out. Limit them to no more than a couple a week, and in many cases, only send out messages a few times a month. The more you send out, the higher the likelihood that someone is going to unsubscribe from your list. Keep things simple, short, sweet, and use templates to help you.
As you work with email marketing, you’re going to have to deal with trial and error. While there are a lot of tips that you can employ out there, you still have to focus on literally moving forward with sending out newsletters and seeing what your returns are like. This takes time. There’s no shortcuts, you just have to keep building, until your list grows to thousands more. Keep pushing, and you’ll gain the upper hand no doubt.
I highly recommend you read over the CAN-Spam act. It gives you the guidelines on safe sending practices.
