Even though pundits talk about the death of these things from time to time, it’s not dead. Blogs don’t die. They keep living. There was a time when blogging was only relegated for people that were in their basement, getting fat. That may be a funny caricature, but that’s how people painted bloggers for so many years. Today, blogs are set up by just about all walks of life. From people that are professionals to corporations and beyond. If you’re thinking about setting up a blog in 2016, you will want to follow these steps. These steps will help you not only create a blog, but also get traffic and secure your space in the lexicon of the internet.
Choose Your Web Host Wisely
The first thing that you need to consider when setting up a blog in 2016 is to choose your web hosting. If you choose a web host that is lackluster, you will not have your site up when you need it most. A good host will have 99.99% up time, and will help you get the right content management system in place. If you don’t do this, you could end up with a host that doesn’t let you have access to plugin certain tools. Do not go free here. Free hosts will not help you get the most out of your pages. In some cases, you could invest in free options and end up seeing your work get thrown out, deleted, and without recourse. Just get a good host, and choose them wisely.
Install a Content Management System
The next thing that you need to do is install a good content management system. Without this in place, you will not be able to publish the right pieces. Whether you want to do a photography site, or a site that has a lot of writing, you will need to configure the right CMS. No blog is going to do well if there’s no software in the background. Long gone are the days where you would set up individual pages for each post, and you template everything by hand. One of the best systems that you can use right now is WordPress. Publish Unique Content
Beyond the back-end of the blog that you will set up, make sure that you look at unique content. Unique content design is going to pay off time and time again. Unique options are very important. This doesn’t mean that you have to post 10 times a day, but you will need to update more often than not. There are people that will argue that less is more, but not when it comes to blogging. More is more here, and don’t forget that. Keep posting unique content and do so within a schedule of at least 3 times a week and you will see a huge jump in your traffic. The most successful blogs in the world are updated on a regular basis. Some are updated multiple times a day, every day of the week, so consider that.

Aside from publishing, make sure that you look for SEO plugins. This will allow you to modify the title tag, keyword tag, and meta tags all within the back end of your blog. This will help you get more traffic, and rank higher within every keyword that you will have online. Also try YOAST, and keep tabs on updates within the SEO community and plugins that WordPress come through.
